Clothing packed in wardrobe boxes will transport the best and arrive at your destination wrinkle free. One box holds two feet of compressed clothing. If wardrobe boxes are not used, remove each garment from its hanger, fold and place in suitcase or box line with clean paper. Some lightweight clothes such as lingerie and sweaters may be left in bureau drawers. Hats may be left in hatboxes and place in larger boxes. You can also stuff crumpled tissue around the crown and place heavier hats underneath lighter ones. It is recommended you transport furs with you rather than in the moving van. Footwear should be left in shoeboxes and placed in a larger carton. If no boxes are available, wrap each shoe individually with paper and use lots of padding to protect heels and ornaments. |
