First
back-up all your files on your computer. Your computer company may
recommend that you "park" your hard drive. That means using
a special program (possibly called ship.exe) that makes recording heads
in the hard drive pull back from the data area into a "safer"
area of the CPU.
Make sure to pack diskettes and CD's in a separate box. Bundling cables and wires together and color code them with their matching outlets on your computer, will help in setting back up in your new home. Take all external components such as printers, scanners, etc. and place in a plastic bag and original box if available. If you don't have original boxes you can double box for sturdiness. Remove cartridges from printers and keep paper in trays to prevent paper feed pins from shifting during your move. |
